The ACTMRS monthly meeting is being held at Hughes Baptist Church located 32-34 Groom Street in Hughes this month.

DCC Equipment

Despite first appearances, KVHR operates in a point-to-point manner. In general trains run from Sydney through Kangaroo Valley and onward on the mainline to Melbourne or on the branch line to Nowra (and the reverse). There is a continuous running capability, but this is more intended for trains to be run in or to allow for those trains, such as loaded coal trains, that always run in the same direction.

Yardmaster Controls

Points Control

Points can be controlled either by direct DCC control or by the Melbourne Control Panel. DCC point numbers are indicated on the points.

In the normal course of events the Yardmaster will use the control panel and his shunter/s will use DCC control should that be necessary.

Melbourne Control Panel

Nowra is a small terminus consisting of a short platform that can hold a railcar and trailer or a small locomotive (eg 30 class) and single short carriage (eg CCA), a goods siding and runaround and short stub siding. The goods siding can hold a maximum of six 4wh wagons. The stub siding can hold four 4wh wagons.

Nowra also is the terminus for the long coal drags. These are the only trains normally operated on a 'loop' basis and are held on the NowThUp and NowThDn tracks.

There is no yardmaster at Nowra and all points are operated by the train crew. Point numbers are #81 to #85.

The mainlines (Up, Down and Up Loop) are controlled by a 30-lever mechanically interlocked frame. Signals are lower quadrant.
