Layouts
As a group the ACTMRS is actively involved in the creation of new layouts. These layouts are joint efforts between any interested club members.
We currently have 3 Layouts for the Exhibition circuit:
Little Austria Little Austria
- is a HOe narrow guage exhibition layout based on a European outline. It includes a working coal loader, detailed villages and country scenes, and a dock where the coal is transported to and loaded onto a waiting ship.
Twelfth Street at Box Hill Twelfth Street Yard
- is an eastern U.S. outline exhibition layout in HO scale, designed around a busy city scene. It features a double-track mainline, a classification yard, a tramway, and several industries to make the interchange of traffic interesting. The layout has won several awards, and was featured in the July 2005 issue of Continental Modeller Magazine.
Yendys Yendys
- is our latest exhibition layout. It is an Australian outline HO scale layout based on a western Sydney setting, and includes a busy double-track suburban mainline 'under wires'. Being a main line out of Sydney, country and interstate freight and passenger trains can also be seen. The layout also features a secondary local freight line, a passenger carriage yard and maintenance facility, and other small industries served be the railway.
And we have a single permanent layout that is stored in our old railway carriage at the ARHS.
- Van Layout
- Incorporates both OO/HO and HO scale narrow gauge track, and was designed to allow each member to try new skills and techniques. We hold a work session on the last Sunday of each month, and a session purely devoted to running trains on the second Sunday of each month.
Also a number of our members have layouts both for home use and for the exhibition circuit.
