  2. John’s Preloved Collection
    Whether you are new to model trains, or an old hand, you will find John has the bargains. Trains in “O”, “HO/OO” or “N” scale , new or used. Engines, carriages, freight, accessories buildings and track. John will provide a valuation or purchase unwanted items and sells on consignment. He also offers repair service.   3. Runway 13
    We are a specialist wholesaler of airbrushing and hobby products. We will be holding product demonstrations, including showing how to paint, mask and weather techniques and a hands on workshops where the hobbyist is welcome to try for themselves, airbrushing on real models. We also display a range of micro motors, starting from just 4mm in size that can fit into the tiniest railroad models.

  4. “Spokane Northern” – Reid Gaffey
    Spokane Northern is an “N” Scale layout showing USA prototype railroads that operated in Washington State in the area of the city of Spokane during the middle 1970’s period. This layout uses Digital Command Control (DCC) as a means of controlling it trains, enabling the operator to turn on and off the head lights and if the loco’s are fitted with sound to toot their whistle.

  5. Eureka Models
    Ron Cunningham, the proprietor of Eureka Model, will have on display and for sale the current models he has and the models he is having developed. He may have updated test shots of the models being developed and you can place an order for any of the models being developed.   6. “South Bend & Hilltop Railway” – Hill Model Railway Society
    This is an “N” Scale layout that is based on USA railroad operations but not on any specific prototype. This layout is designed to provide both DC and DCC trains to be run and provides for scale 5.1 kilometres running before a train begins to track over rail it has already travelled. This layout uses working signals and prototype Centralised Traffic Control to provide the control of its trains.

  7. Canberra Model Shipwrights Society.
    This society was established to foster an interest in scale model ships and boats and their associated fittings, armaments and structures and the pursuit of excellence in this field. The exhibition consists of members completed models and will feature models under construction. Visitors are encouraged to come along, ask questions and give advice!

  8. ACT Scale Modelers Society.
    Interested in scale modeling? The ACT Scale Modeling Society will have on display various models assembled by their members and displaying their modelling skills at Malkara all weekend. Come along and talk with the guys about this fascinating hobby that anyone can do!

  9. "Sydney Central Station" — Ross Balderson
    This layout is an “N” Scale depiction of the Sydney Central railway station. It depicts the station during 1957 – 58 period. It took four years to research and six years to construct the layout, which includes all the buildings and many of the trains as these were not available at the time of building this unique layout.

  10. "AusTrak iN Canberra" — Canberra Monaro N Scale Group
    A modular “N” Scale layout that uses modules constructed using the AusTrak modular standard. Each module or groups of modules were constructed by individual members of this group and some are part of that members home layout. As this is an ever changing layout it is not specific to a country, railway and steam and diesel locomotives representing Australian, British, European and Northern America are evident.   11. Pallas Hobbies.
    Pallas Hobbies is a husband and wife team of Dave and Tracey Pallas and was established 10 years as a mail order business catering for Australian N Scale Modeler in both kit and ready to run. We carry stock from various manufacturers including the majority of Australian made “N” Scale models that are now available, and some “HO” Scale model as well as the developing Pallas Hobbies line of models.   12. Austrains Pty Ltd
    John Eassie, the proprietor of Austrains, is a long time producer of HO scale models of Australian railway locomotives and rolling stock, including NSW, Victorian and of the modern non-state era.   13. “Waterfall” – Illawarra Model Railway Association
    Waterfall Station is located 36 km south of Central Station on the Illawarra Line. It opened in 1886 but has been relocated twice with it being located at its current site in 1905. The Sydney suburban electrified network reached Waterfall in 1980 and the station building as modelled was demolished in 1995. All the building are scratch built and the layout can be operated using either DC or DCC control.

  14. “Children’s U Drive Railway” – ACT Model Railway Society
    A small layout designed to entice the younger members of our society to run their own train for a short period. It will have various engines running on their own track which the young driver will be able to start/stop and go as fast as possible when ever he/she desires.

  15. “Yendys” – ACT Model Railway Society
    A layout with a double track mainline running through a small suburban station, a goods yard and workshop area that are set in an outer Sydney area. The layout does not depict a particular era and you will see trains from other states of Australia, both steam and diesel and some notable Australian passenger trains. The layout includes an extensive spread of scratch built overhead suburban electrics and many other scratch built buildings and structures.

  16. Canberra Society of Model Experimental Engineers
    CSMEE is a group of people who primarily build and operate miniature steam and diesel locomotives and rolling stock on the "Kingston Miniature Railway", next to the Australian Railway Historical Society (ACT Division) museum. Other members build such items as Instruments and Time Pieces (some made initially of wood) and model Traction Engines and are involved in tool making. - Step outside and have train ride. Big kids can ride too!

  17. Triton Owners Club
    This club will demonstrate the use of the Triton work centre, which may be fitted with a circular saw and the Triton router stand with router attached. Various items made by members of this club using Triton equipment will be on display.

  18. ACT Model Boat Club
    Watch the radio controlled boats do their stuff in the pool. Tugs will push around their larger brethren, fast destroyers will zip around, submarines will surprise you with their radio controlled under water antics. Do not forget to take a careful look at the static displays and marvel at some of the intricate detail lavished upon them.

  19. “Clifton Falls – Michael Touzell
    A small industrial town whose main production is the recycling of waste material into bottles, paper products and garden mulch, taking advantage of the railway for the delivery of waste material and shipment of resultant products. This industry coexists within a natural environment that has amenities for the tourist to enjoy.

  20. “South Creek” – NSW N Scale Group
    South Creek is the original name of the western Sydney suburb of St Marys on which the layout is based, which highlights the St Marys station during the late 1980’s period. The layout is built to fine scale using code 55 trackwork and all point work hand formed. The overhead suburban electrics have also been scratch built, along with the station footbridge.

  21. “Brunswick Park” – Epping Model Railway Club
    This layout represents the main northern line between Strathfield junction and Concord West, based on a period during the 1980s. This includes many sidings that were in existence then, adding variety to the trains, which include suburban sets, interurban, country passenger and many freight trains. Although the layout is set in the 1980s, many of the trains may be from periods during the 1950s to the present day.

  22. “Mullet Creek” – Geoff Small
    This layout is loosely based in the Hawkesbury River region of NSW and most of the trains you will see possibly operated in the area this layout is trying to depict. The layout also includes suburban electric wiring as this area is now part of the Sydney suburban network. Please feel free to ask any questions.

  23. "Grand-dad’s Toy Trains” – ACT Vintage Train Collectors Association
    They are a small group interested in collecting, restoring and running “vintage” “O” Scale and “OO” Scale toy trains. They are generally members of the Hornby Railway Collectors Association of Aust and their trains are generally made of tinplate or die cast. The “O” Scale layout features tinplate buildings and accessories dating from 1920’s and 1960’s from mainly Hornby and Lionel, whereas the “OO” Scale layout features exclusively Hornby Dublo trains built during the period from 1940 to 1960’s by Meccano Ltd.

  24. “Crestwood” – Canberra Model Railway Club
    A freelance HO Scale DCC operated layout constructed by this club. The scene is set somewhere in south eastern Australia and reflects what you may have seen during the 1970 to the present period. There is plenty of action at the station as passenger trains stop and go and because this is a mainline there are a succession of freight trains passing through. Occasionally, overseas loco’s and rolling stock will visit as well.

  25. Model Railroad Craftsman
    A model railway stockist who will meet the needs of all modelers seeking to do more with their hobby, with the emphasis is on scenery products, scratch building supplies, detail parts, books, videos and DCC supplies.     These dollhouses are available for purchase, either complete or in kit form. Also on sale are the necessary accessories required to construct a superb model.   27. Casula Hobbies
    This hobby shop has been serving the needs of modelers in the Sydney and surrounding region for a number of years from its shop in Liverpool. The proprietor, Joe Callipari has been instrumental in the development of a number of locomotives and rolling models, buildings and line side structures.   28. “Radio Control Cars” – Rob Kimbel
    Has static and operating displays of electric and petrol powered radio-controlled cars including specialist vehicles such as off-road cars, trucks, dragsters, bikes and planes. Watch the antics of our off road cars. They will provide at least hourly a demonstration on the grassed area outside their exhibition room. Come and talk to the operators if you are interested in these as a hobby.

  29. “The Church Fete” – ACT Miniature Enthusiasts
    A church fete by Club Members. This year features many miniature diorama’s that have been constructed to a high level of detail that can used in a one off display or to build up a larger display. The ACT Miniature Enthusiasts can be contacted at (02) 6286 4714.
